As a DVLA Registered Number Plate Supplier, we must verify your identity and your entitlement to use the registration number before manufacturing road-legal registration plates.

Proof of Name & Address

  • Driving licence
  • Utility bill from the last 6 months
  • Council Tax / rates bill from the last 6 months
  • Bank or building society statement from the last 6 months
  • National identity card
NAME ONLY

Additional Identity Documents

  • Passport
  • Bank or building society debit / credit card
  • Police warrant card
  • Armed forces identity card

These confirm your name only, so separate acceptable proof of address may also be required.

  • V5C / V5CNI registration certificate
  • Green new keeper slip
  • V750 / V750NI certificate of entitlement
  • V778 retention document
  • V11 / V11NI tax or SORN reminder
  • V379 / V379NI temporary registration certificate
  • V948 with official DVLA stamp
  • eV948 / eV948/2
  • Qualifying fleet operator authorisation
  • V5C-on-demand vehicle record PDF
  • UK Trailer Registration Certificate (VTRC)

Road-Legal Plate Markings

A compliant modern road plate should include:

  • British Standard marking: BS AU 145e
  • Supplier / manufacturer identification
  • Name and postcode of the supplying outlet
  • Reflective white front background
  • Reflective yellow rear background
  • Black, non-reflective characters
  • A single shade of black on post-Sept 2021 plates

What Can Be MOT-Compliant?

  • Standard printed registration plates
  • Raised 3D characters
  • Correctly manufactured raised 4D-style characters
  • Approved national flags / identifiers
  • Green flash on eligible zero-emission vehicles

All other construction, spacing, font, colour and marking requirements must still be met.

What We Cannot Supply for Road Use

  • Mis-spaced characters used to alter how a registration reads
  • Non-standard fonts
  • Incorrect character colours
  • Reflective or removable characters
  • Background patterns
  • Slogans or unauthorised messages on the registration plate
  • Plates missing the required supplier / British Standard markings
Important: A registration must be displayed exactly as legally assigned. Characters must not be rearranged, altered or deliberately spaced to make the registration read differently. Incorrectly displayed plates can cause a vehicle to fail its MOT and the driver may be fined.
